Today on The Most Important 15 Minutes of Your Day: How traumatic events change people’s life and cause PTSD.

It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Our “fight-or-flight” response to fear triggers many split-second changes in our body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. Most people will experience a range of reactions after trauma, but most of us recover from these symptoms naturally. Individuals who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with Post traumatic stress disorder. PTSD develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. Linda Stanley, a retired Airforce Officer and trauma nurse, joins me to talk about how traumatic events change people’s life and cause PTSD.
