Mental Health has always been the main topic of conversation for years. However, Mental Health in the black community is often overlooked by other races and by our own people. In this documentary, I broke down the historical and present-day trauma that African Americans are faced with. All of the traumas and pressure we deal in the United States systems and by other races, makes African Americans more likely to gain a mental disorder than any other race. Since I am African American female that also struggles with mental health, I decided to explore this topic to bring awareness to the causes and effects of mental disorders within the black community. I hope by educating my own people and other races on this perspective can make a difference in how Mental Health is perceived in the black community.
